Expocrete was honored as the Outstanding Community Outreach Company for its work in Fort McMurray, Alberta Canada. In early May, a massive fire swept through the region consuming 1.5 million acres and destroying approximately 2,400 homes. Almost immediately, a group of Expocrete team members formed a fundraising group consisting of employees from several provinces in Western Canada, including Canadian sister Oldcastle companies Permacon and CRH Canada. A GoFundMe page was created for cash donations, while toys, books and activity items for children were collected and delivered to relief centers. The team raised $11,000 throughout Canada and the U.S. and Oldcastle generously donated an additional $10,000 resulting in a total of over $21,000. Some of the money and items went directly to four Oldcastle families affected by the fire. Oldcastle APG proudly recognizes the work of this diverse group who demonstrates the outstanding caliber of employees in the Oldcastle family.
