Majestic moss-draped oaks and peaceful low-country marshland set the dramatic backdrop for the 2018 Coastal Living Idea House. For the 11th year, Belgard® is once again excited to be the exclusive hardscape sponsor for this annual project that brings a tremendous amount of credibility and exposure to the Belgard brand through Coastal Living magazine spreads, an online presence, on-site promotion and a variety of regional public relations efforts.
This year’s Idea House was a new construction project in the quaint waterfront planned community of Habersham, South Carolina. Belgard’s contribution included a showcase of six products in a variety of creative outdoor living applications, including a stepping-stone entrance walkway, a permeable paver driveway, a terraced courtyard and summer kitchen, a breezeway to the garage, and a picturesque fire pit retreat overlooking the marsh. Both the designer and the builder were impressed with the value the Belgard partnership brought to the look and functionality of the design.
Ellen McGauley, Senior Homes Editor of Coastal Living, weighed in on what the Belgard partnership has meant to their program over the years. “Each year, our editors team up with carefully chosen partners to bring readers the latest in design and building innovation through a new project tailored to life on the coast. We look for partners like Belgard, whose products are a benchmark in quality and longevity for outdoor building materials, particularly in harsh coastal environments. And because our readers spend a significant amount of time outdoors, Belgard’s products play both an inspirational and educational role for readers as they plan their next project.”
After a premier party for sponsors was held on June 28th, the house opened to the public on July 5th and will continue to be available for tours until October 28th.
The outdoor rooms of the Idea House were critical design elements,” says designer R. Eric Moser of Moser Design Group, Inc. “Belgard offered the ideal products and services. The materials create rich textures and inviting spaces. I was delighted with the result.
The outdoor living area provided the main visual feature for the outside of the house,” adds builder J. Allen Patterson IV of Allen Patterson Residential, LLC. “Not only was it beautiful, it was also functional and durable.
