Oldcastle Lawn & Garden is partnering with the National Parks Service on the organizations largest project ever: St. Louis, Missouri’s CityArchRiver project. This new undertaking is transforming the grounds surrounding St. Louis’ Gateway Arch, adding biking and running trails, space for outdoor concerts, and a new museum commemorating westward expansion. Joe Ertel, VP and general manager of Oldcastle Lawn & Garden Midwest described the company’s role in the development as a “once-in-a-lifetime project”. “From the plant manager, to salesmen, to the guys running the loaders, the team took CityArchRiver head on,” he said. The project began by excavating over 80,000 cubic yards of soil, which is being replaced by nearly double that amount. From the project’s inception in 2015 to wrap-up in 2017, L&G has shipped more than 150,000 cubic yards of soil or about 20 trucks a day over two years.
